Beauty in the Ordinary:
A light in a hole in the wall mexican restaurant is just… well its just that. But if you look at in the right way, it can become something else entirely.

What is it with grandmas and christmas? Somehow, they have this talent for getting you exactly what you would never want and don’t need. Underwear, socks, T-shirts with silly slogans like “I’m Grammy’s Princess” and all that jazz. But this year my grandma surprised me. The t-shirt she got me I actually liked. On it was a picture of a camera and it says “I find beauty in everything”. After unwrapping it, I forgot about it for a little while, but a few days later, when I was wearing it, I started to think… maybe you can find beauty in everything. Sure, theres beauty in a mountain stream or desert sunrise, but can there also be beauty in the simple everyday things like a lampshade or a slice of lime? So I decided that for the next year, each day I will post a picture of something beautiful. Perhaps a fountain, or a wave breaking… or maybe even a simple tile counter. I’m going to just jump in and see what I can find.
With time, something simple such as a plastic ‘disco ball’ can becomes something well (you guessed it) artsy

Remember when you were a little kid and someone handed you a kaleidoscope to play with? Suddenly fascinated by the ever changing patterns and colors, you could just stare into that thing for… well as long as your 5 year old attention span would allow. While kaleidoscopes were fun when you were 5, they probably just don’t hold the same magic for you now. But what if you got to create the kaleidoscope? (Gosh typing out kaleidoscope this many times is giving my fingers a run for their money) With this artsy website, you can choose from an array of tools and colors to create a kaleidoscopic pattern. You can even choose the number of sides you want it to have. And if kaleidoscopes aren’t for you, then it’s possible to put it on one-sided mode and just draw. No matter what kind of art you like to do, this website is quite a fun find. Give yourself a little time to get used to the tools provided and soon you’ll be creating masterpieces.

Today we have another Vimeo video to share… this one is all about the different meanings of WORDS such as play, blow (as in breeze, people) break, split, run, fly, fall, and light. It takes a few times watching it to really get it. But this video is quite creative in portraying all the different meanings of words.
